My Mother taught me to sew at a young age on a farm in Central Illinois.  I enjoyed sewing clothing, stuffed animals, home deco items +  for many years.  In 1996, a friend showed me the book,  “Watercolor Quilts” by Margaret & Slusser and I thought they were so beautiful!  I started playing at ‘quilting’ and found a true passion.  These past 6 years have been delightful, exploring many ways of putting fabrics together.  Playing with color is such great fun.  I’ve made over 270 pieces since then,  some large bed size, many are smaller wall hangings.

The flat plains of the Illinois prairies keened the senses to pattern and texture. My parents' love of horticulture brought the element of color to my childhood awareness through varied botanical gardens. Gardening became a great love. As a Master Gardener with Cornell and a National Council of Federated Garden Clubs Accredited Life Flower Show Judge, I have designed many gardens and flower arrangements that have won numerous awards.

Fabric art is an extension of my love of color and pattern developed through years of gardening. In common with flower arranging, the wall hangings show my pleasure in color interactions. I find color very exciting and with fabric, use it to create motion and feeling. Think 'visual music' when you see my work - that is my goal.
